Me and my family

My name is Shannon and I am fairly new to the blogging world. I have had another blog (The rest is still unwritten) that I started to just document my life but was recently searching for a blog of a stepmom and I struggled to find any. There were a few of them that haven't been updated in years and a few of them that seemed pretty negative so I thought I would start my own! Here's my story!

I met my boyfriend, Josh, 3 years ago and his little prince charming, Brayden, shortly after who was just 3 years old at the time. We were pretty much inseparable after that and have just recently bought a house together and will be married soon! While I love him and his son, who is now 6, with all my heart and soul, there is no denying that being a stepmom is incredibly hard. While it is hard, it may also be the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Brayden's life is so full of love and I'm just another person to love him unconditionally. However, anyone who is or has been a step parent knows the struggles that come a long with it. I find myself looking for advice and support but unless you've been a step parent yourself, it's hard for people to understand what you're going through.

I wanted to start this blog as a place for step parents to come together and support one another and give advice. I mentioned above about negative blogs and I'm not here to sugar coat things. This isn't an easy gig, however there are so many rewarding parts that make the negatives worth it and I want to be sure to give credit to those things as well. I am by no means an expert, but am happy to share my experiences and all that I've learned so far in the 3 years I've been doing this. Let me introduce our little family!

This is the family picture we had taken in November. We clean up quite nicely!

Here Brayden is at his 6th birthday. My friend makes cakes and she made him an Xbox cake since he is a little gamer. That is also his favorite shirt, which worked out well since his birthday party was on St. Patrick's Day this year!

I had to post this one as well. Notice the shirt?? Him and his dad are the definition of outdoors men. They both love to fish and hunt and just be outside. I'm sure this fact will come up a lot in future posts. =)

The final member of our family is Carleigh. She is our 3 year old cat and a little stinker sometimes, but we love her!

That's us in a nutshell! I'm excited to document my successes and struggles here and share them with all of you. I always welcome comments and advice as well and hope this will serve as an avenue for support for each other!
